Kernow Sat Hackathon

Satellites play an integral role in providing data about our environment. With support from industry experts, participants of the Kernow Sat Hackathon will learn about the uses and applications of space, how satellites work and how they can be used across various sectors such as marine, agriculture and tourism. Using Arduino and Raspberry Pi technologies, participants will be given the opportunity to develop a satellite payload and remote sensing platforms which could, potentially, provide data to support decision making for real-world environmental challenges.

The hackathon will be aimed predominantly at secondary school-aged children and upwards, but all enthusiasts will be welcome! Kispe Space Systems will be leading the hackathon and will provide technical expertise with support from the University of Exeter. We will be inviting innovative speakers from the relevant sectors to set environmental challenges. The hackathon will enable participants to expand their knowledge base on applications and use cases for satellite technologies, and learn skills related to coding, Design & Technology and electrical engineering. The hackathon will be held at Spaceport Cornwall, Newquay.
